5th Mandelbulb3D Teaser starts today!!!

As per our group rules, Hal , winner of the 4th Teaser, has to setup the rules for this Teaser...and here it goes...

5th MB3D Teaser Rules

These three formulas must be used: Amazing Box ~ Menger3 ~ IdesFormula. (The IdesFormula is located in the first 3D column)

You can use any order for these formulas you like. You can also use Julia if you wish.


Please submit your deviations in the folder "5th Teaser" [link]
Each participant can submit 2 deviations.
Last date of submission - 25th April 2013

General Teaser Rules:-

1. All submissions should be original, i.e., you should start from scratch. No tweaking allowed.

2. If it is necessary, you can use a Background picture, like sky etc... provided, it should not occupy major portion of your deviation.

3. Each participant can submit 2 deviations for a teaser but second submission should be significantly different - i. e. not just another view of the same fractal.

4. Parameter sharing is optional but should give a short description of your workflow. Any tips or tricks used, if you care to share.

5. The winner of the teaser will get the privilege to conduct the next teaser i.e., he/she has to set the formulae for the next teaser

The 3rd Teaser Rules

"DE combinate - 4Da"

The rules are that you must use any IFS formula as F1 and use the remaining formula from the given list of 4Da formulae....in DE Combinate option.

The only formulae allowed for F2-F6  are as follows:

These can all be found on the "4Da" list in the formula window.

You may fill any of the six formula slots in any sequence.
Julia is OK. you can use any mode of your choice ...like Min, Max, Inv Max...etc
Please start from scratch - no tweaks!

It is not required that you post your full parameters but it would be of interest and appreciated if you could indicate in the description, what settings specific to the DE combinate you chose.

Hope you are all settled in to the routine life after the holidays...

As this is a study group...thought of sharing here some tips, Luca shared regarding the order of formulae using in MB3D.....some of you may be aware about it.

The order of formulae using in MB3D play an important role in shaping the fractal image.
The first formula plays a vital role...for example in a set of formulae " repeat from here"  starts from second formula we can say that the 1st formula is a pre-transform...and the remaining formula will repeat in order, according to the no. of iterations..
For eg:-if we take our 2nd teaser... the rot1 can be used as a pre- transform..."repeat from here" is unchecked in first formula...then use bulbox check "repeat from here" then use  rot2...it will be like this
rot1, bulbox, rot2 , bulbox, rot2, bulbox, rot2, bulbox, rot2, bulbox, rot2 ... (in short 1st formula is not repeating).

You can use otherwise also...then it will be like this...
rot1, bulbox, rot2, rot1, bulbox, rot2, rot1, bulbox, rot2, rot1, bulbox, rot2, ...

Our main intention of taking a particular formula for teaser is to know more about it... I'm sure bulbox is not a popular one among us...so please make use of this opportunity to know this formula a bit closer...you'll love it for sure

You can try the DIFS also with this formula in DECombinate mode especially in Max mode....try other modes also....(not for this teaser, but for study purpose.)

You have time till 25th Jan to play with this formula!!!

This was in my mind for quite some time… How many of you would be interested to participate in small Mandelbulb Teasers???  I think, at present MB3D is the most popular & widely used fractal generator in DA. Thanks to Jessie from Fractal Forum who is the creator of MB3D & formula contributors like, Luca, Fractkali etc…

First of all I'll explain what is in my mind…Every 2 week, we'll take  a formula or a set of formulae or a combination of formulae and try to make unique fractals…no tweaking from old param….you should start from scratch. No need to post your param along with the deviation…but please enlighten us about the final result…Each participant can submit their best (one only). We'll select the best teaser of the week by voting. …and we can feature /news all the entries….!!!

And one more thing… the winner of teaser will get the privilege to conduct the next teaser...and it will go on in this manner…
How is my idea???  Any suggestions ???   Opinions ???
